I have to say, these guys aren't to easy, but they aren't hard. their is a lot of basics to these guys, and pretty cheap caring. Lets get started, first, lets cover food, you can buy rabbit pellets at the store, which are a need to all captive rabbits, feed them 1/4 a cup of pellets every day for every 5 pounds ( for example, if my rabbit was 11 pounds, I would round that to ten, so my rabbit would need 2/4 , or 1/2 a cup of pellets every day ) . Another basic on food it fruits and vegtables, give your rabbit a diffrent kind of food every 3 to 5 days, foods such as spinich, celery, peas, beans, beet tops, kale, carrots, etc. 1 heaping of these greens and veggies every day for every 5 pounds your rabbits is all you need. Now your rabbits need fruits, I know this seems like a lot of food but it is a rabbits needs. OK, give your rabbit 1 tablespoon of fruits each day for every 5 pounds your rabbit weighs. Well thats all there is to feeding a rabbit.
Now lets talk about the cage your rabbit needs space, it needs 3/4 square feet of floor space for every pound it will weigh as an adult. ( for example, if my rabbit would weight 7 pounds as a adult it would need 5 and one fourth square feet of space. for your rabbits health and comfort, put shredded bedding at the bottom of the cage ( do not forget to clean the newspaper every day! ), install a wheel big enough for your rabbit,a all natural stick to chew on, and a water bottle ( the kind you attach to the cage so the rabbits can drink ) .
Now lets talk about your rabbits health, If your rabbit lives outside, take them in when it is 55 degrees fahrenheit or lower, If it is hot outside, give them a salt roll, which you can buy at the store, it is crucial that rabbits need more salt in the heat. Do not get your rabbit wet unless you are cleaning their fur, if they get to wet it can open up the hairs more which will make the rabbit cold and sick, the water can actully freeze a rabbit. To clean their fur, squirt your hand with water and pet the rabbit, the extra fur will come off and it will clean their fur.
Here are some reccommendations:
If you want a small rabbit ( under 5 pounds ) them try the netherland dwarf, polish, or the holland lop
If you want a medium size rabbit ( 4 1/2 to 10 pounds ) try the mini lop, dutch, or new zealand harlequin
If you want a large rabbit ( over 10 pounds ) try the french or english lop, or the flemish giant
